Finally, we will be going through the characters arcs of the most important figures in this arc, and be closing off with the point I made earlier about the feel of this finale. Second, we will go over the technical aspects of the arc, as this is still an anime, and anime has elements that can help elevate something in ways manga can’t. Firstly, we are going to be going through how the thematic ideas were handled here in comparison to the manga.
There are three main points that I am going to be covering here. I want you all to keep this in mind, as it is going to be one of the biggest points that I am going to address later. Really though, the manga itself just feels more like an actual complete story than what the anime offers, no matter how much finality there is packed into the final episode.
The manga has a lot more content, some of the best action scenes in the entire series, a lot of the characters get fleshed out more, and it handles its thematic ideas better than the anime did, even though I think the anime wasn’t bad by any means as we will soon come to explore in this post.

So, I dedicated my life to this series from then onwards, and at the end, I can definitely say that if I were to recommend a version of the story over another, I would definitely say go for the manga. That was left confused, curious, anxious, disappointed, and excited all at once, because I didn’t know what was going to happen even more than I did before now. That was when I found out that the anime diverges heavily from the manga at around 1/3 of the way through. I remember when I was still in the middle of watching the anime, I was someone who took long breaks in between short binges, and being someone that didn’t care much about spoilers, I decided to check up on how the series would play out. In a way, just the simple fact that the anime went in a different direction than the manga, controversial as it may be, makes me just as interested and even excited to see how the story will go. By no means is it a masterpiece, but I certainly do not think it is the travesty that many people write it off as. All the same, I stand by my opinion that the many people working on the anime did the best that they could do if they had to go this route. On paper, these definitely sound like an adaptation’s recipe for disaster, and I myself won’t deny some of the criticism thrown at this final arc. The underdeveloped characters, the rather cheesy way the main antagonist was defeated, and the cutting out two-thirds of the source material in favor of going for a brand new story as a whole. The main reasoning for this often times boils down to three things. I don’t think I need to say that the ending of the Soul Eater anime is not exactly popular among the fandom.
